Comets, solo exhibition from January 4, 2008

Digital Crib Show

Friday morning, at noon, we inaugurate the project comets to the bakers.
"Comets" is a work of digital animation in 3d, created by the artist Claudio Castelli and curated by Me (Mauro Papa).
It represents groups of virtual people who travel to the Nativity.
The three Kings, but not only: characters of the contemporary age and characters of the ancient age, in a timeless dimension.
Thanks to its technical features, the 3d installation is composed of heterogeneous versions that reflect different observation points and time phases.
The first stage represents the approach of the characters to the Nativity and is already visible on the monitors of some shops of the city, following the logic to offer to casual spectators and distracted the possibility of attending the Epiphanic event, and of Involve them in the artistic process as witnesses unaware of a unique event.
The second stage represents the arrival of the characters to the place of the Nativity, placed in the historical center in the church of the bakers.
In a particular set of lights, images and sounds, the Magi and their retinue will witness the miracle.
The inauguration with aperitif will be attended by the deputy mayor Lucia Matergi and the artist Claudio Castelli.
The exhibition, free admission, will be open from Friday, January 4 to Sunday, January 6, with hours 11-12 and 15-20 (Friday and Saturday), and 10-20 (Sunday).
Come an epiphanic path from the borders to the center of Claudio Castelli curated by Mauro Papa in the sky of Palestine, 2007 years ago, a come-on appeared.
In our skies today, we reveal digital, electronic and virtual comets.
The spectators admire them from the border areas, from the epiphanic gates in crowded places, between busy and distracted people.
Each gate reveals a unique and different vision, and the unfolding of people who travel to a destination they do not know.
They travel the Kings, the shepherds, the curious, the desperate.
They travel life and death.
They'il all be in the center in the presence of a miracle.
"Comets" is an innovative project of contemporary art that falls within the billboard of Christmas Initiatives (art, theatre, cinema, popular traditions..) programmed by the municipal administration of Grosseto for 2007.
In particular, "Comets" is a work of digital animation in 3d, created by the artist Claudio Castelli.
It represents groups of virtual people who travel to the Nativity.
The three Kings, but not only: characters of the contemporary age and characters of the ancient age, in a timeless dimension.
Each group has its own different view of the comets, and therefore its own reference comets.
Thanks to its technical features, the 3d film has been decomposed into heterogeneous versions, reflecting the event represented by different observation points.
From a single digital processing job, therefore, several movies were produced, unique and complementary.
The enjoyment of the movie is complex and dynamic.
Complex because it is articulated in multiple movies that represent the same scene from multiple spatial viewpoints, and that can then be viewed on screens or screened in different places, and dynamic because it provides a separate temporary succession in Two stages.
The first phase (27 December 2007 – 6 January 2008) represents the approach of the characters to the Nativity.
The movies are displayed in some places (borders) of the city of Grosseto, outside the historical center where the Comea directs the virtual characters.
The boundaries have been identified in commercial establishments, following the logic of offering casual and distracted spectators the opportunity to attend the Epiphanic event, and to involve them in the artistic process as witnesses unaware of a unique event.
They're passing the Magi, surprise yourselves.
The second phase (4, 5, 6 January 2008) represents the arrival of the characters to the place of the Nativity (center), located in the historical center in the church of the bakers.
In a particular set of lights, images and sounds, the Magi and their retinue – including us – will witness the miracle.
